  1. GM will pull out of auto-assembly venture with Toyota after the world’s two largest carmakers failed to agree on which vehicles to build at the plant. The automakers have reviewed plans for the New United Motor Manufacturing Inc factory .GM said yesterday it will shed its stake in the factory, known as Nummi. (Bloomberg)
  2. Jaguar Land Rover, the luxury vehicle division of Tata Motors expects emerging economies to account for as much as a third of the unit’s sales, as demand in U.S. and European markets plunge due to recession. (Bloomberg)
  3. GM, Toyota, Ford and other automakers may report a U.S. sales rate for June that exceeds 10 million units for the first time this year, according to four industry estimates. This is an increase from 9.9 million in May, separate reports from Edmunds.com; J.D. Power & Associates, CSM Worldwide and Deutsche Bank show. (Bloomberg)
  4. Ford the only U.S. automaker not receiving emergency federal loans, will get $5.9 billion in government financing to speed work on cars with better fuel economy. Nissan will be able to borrow $1.6 billion under the $25 billion U.S. Energy Department programme, and Tesla Motors Inc., a closely held maker of battery-powered autos, was approved for $465 million, the agency said .   5. Honda, Japan’s second- largest carmaker, will cut the number of models sold only domestically to trim development costs. The company plans to eliminate some of the 10 models exclusive to Japan over the next five or six years, Hiroshi Kobayashi, Honda’s Japan sales head, said in an interview in Tokyo. (Bloomberg)
  6. Renault Samsung Motors Co., the South Korean unit of France’s Renault SA, introduced a revamped SM3 small sedan aimed at customers opting for more-fuel-efficient vehicles amid high oil prices and the economic slump. It goes on sale locally in early July priced between 14 million won ($11,200) and 18 million won. (Bloomberg).
