- dirty i.e cover by dust, sludge e.t.c,
- wear and tear due to life,
- full repair is not being performed,
- lack of skill about machine,
- lack of skill to operate the machine,
- lack of skill in performing the maintenance,
- not a good design.
Why do you need Total Productive Maintenance?
All task and activities that we want to do must have a reason and purpose. This shall include total productive maintenance activity. But before we answer why do we need total productive maintenance or so caled TPM let us ask 1 question. Are machines design to breakdown? Of course not. If not nobody or factory will but them. However we cannot avoid them to be broken or malfunction at a certain period or time. The breakdown could contribute downtime and loss in productivity and profit. But what are the factors that could cause the machines to malfunction from what it was design to?
There 7 factors that contribute to the malfunction of it operation.
These factors are the answer why we need to perform total productive maintenance (TPM). Through total productive maintenance (TPM), skill shall be improved, wear and tear part shall be replaced and planning shall be done correctly.
